Joan Junkala is the President and Founder of Community Development Strategies. CDS is a consulting and technical services firm assisting community leaders, realtors, project managers, and land developers on a range of areas to include navigating regulatory agencies and local municipal agencies to include planning and zoning, building and permitting, economic development and community redevelopment. Joan assists clients with identifying funding strategies, community planning and program development, grant writing, and community engagement.
Ms. Junkala has over a decade of experience in economic development, community redevelopment, and land use planning. After obtaining a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Florida Atlantic University, Joan spent the next decade employed by state, county, and local municipal government entities. She is currently working to obtain her CEcD (Certified Economic Development) designation through the International Economic Development Council.
Joan is also a licensed Real Estate Sales Associate by the Florida Division of Real Estate and provides real estate services to both fellow realtors and clients regarding a variety of commercial, industrial, and unimproved land development strategies. Ms. Junkala serves as an intermediary between the client and regulatory agencies and provide technical expertise to navigate land development, financing, and permitting challenges. Through her employment with several government entities, Joan is familiar with navigating regulatory agencies to facilitate both small and large-scale commercial and industrial development.
Joan is a mother of two girls, Allie (8) and Summer (7). She goes by the nickname “Joani” and her hobbies include cooking, reading, creating art, making all natural and organic body and face creams, and travelling.
